Culinary Ministry

The Culinary Ministry serves God and others with a spirit of excellence through food preparation and humble service. We provide certified food services and safety for special occasions, events, and funerals. We establish and fulfill service requirements for the various ministries of the church. Maintain kitchen facility, supplies, and usage in accordance with Department of Health and financial resources. “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23, ESV).

 

 

Greeter's Ministry

Welcomes the saints as they enter the house of God. Our mission is to spiritually empower the saints as they enter the household of faith with our attitude and spirit in which we receive people at the door to help them receive the Word of God in a powerful and effective way.  Our spiritual goals are to help people feel needed and wanted, feel important, feel love, and welcomed. “Greet all God's people in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:21a, NIV).  The Greeter’s ministry is called the ministry of helps to be used by God to supply the needs of his people. On a monthly basis, we do outreach visits, fundraisers, and minister to the saints.

 

Intercessory Prayer

"Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well" (James 5:13-15a, NLT). The mission of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry is to support, cover and edify the body of Christ at Hunter Memorial AME Church and the Suitland community through prayer. The goals of the Intercessory Prayer Warriors Ministry are to pray for: 1. The release of the Holy Spirit to provide spiritual foundation, wisdom, and power for every ministry of Hunter Memorial AME Church. 2. The release of God’s healing power for the sick. 3. Continual spiritual growth for those in Christ.

4. Salvation for those who do not know/profess Christ as their Savior.

 

 

Multimedia Ministry

The mission of the Multimedia Ministry is to effectively (and seamlessly) compliment, enhance and support worship services or other scheduled church functions with audio visual services and CD creation and duplication.

The Media Ministry assists in the ministry of the Word through: Audio (recording and duplication), Sound (soundboard and microphones), and Visual (EasyWorship, videos and lights). The purpose of the Multimedia Ministry is to: a) provide audio services to enhance and facilitate delivery of the Word; b) support the music ministry (musicians and directors) to amplify and enhance the sound to aid in the facilitation of worship; and c) aid and focus the congregation in worship and attention to the Word by utilizing worship presentation software during services.

 

 

Serenity Care & Comfort Ministry

"Now may the GOD of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT." (Romans 15:13, NKJV).

 

The mission of the Serenity Care and Comfort Ministry is to uplift and empower individuals and families who are going through transitional phases of life due to trauma and/or loss.

 

Stewardess

This appointed board shall assist the Steward Board in their duties as it relates to baptism and communion. They provide and care for the elements of both sacraments.

 

Stewards

This Pastoral appointed board serves to support and care for the Pastor and first family. They support and implement the vision through oversight of the spiritual and temporal needs of the church, as well as the care, nurture and growth of the congregation. 

 

Trustees

This elected board is responsible for managing all the temporal concerns of the church, through management, procurement, upkeep and improvement.

 

Usher Board

“I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked” (Psalm 84:10).

 

The ushers/doorkeepers have the heart of a servant and true love for the people of the church and desire to promote an atmosphere of reverence and worship in the house of God. Both our adult and junior ushers greet persons with a smile, hand out literature, answer questions and extend help seating and directing persons who arrive for worship. They also help in the collection and direction during the offering and keeping order and helping in case of emergencies. At the end of service they are there to provide direction as worshippers leave, sending them off with a smile and blessing.

 

Wedding Coordinator/Event Planning

It is the goal of Hunter Memorial's Wedding Coordinator and Event Planning ministry to ensure that the wedding day and other special events go smoothly and according to God’s plan. The coordinator is responsible for faciliating the necessary meetings for all parties involved. The coordinator assists with the planning and gracefully handling the arrangements for a successful event.
