PASTOR'S WORDS
“Vision Forward by Faith: Press On!”
“I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection; But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” (Philippians 3:12-14 NLT)
It’s amazing how relevant the Word of God can be in certain seasons of your life. But then again, we serve an amazing God! A God who knows what you need, just when you need it. I believe we all need this word found in Philippians 3:12-14. Shutdowns, school shootings, strangled dreams and stranded dreamers. Fear that breeds greed, wars and “isms” of which none are good. Not to mention papers to write, buildings to renovate, a congregation to move, and ministry to be done...wait, that’s me! I’m sure you have your own list, but guess what? There is always good news! Coach Paul admonishes us to “press on”. In other words, keep moving forward! We are here because our ancestors pressed on. During this Black History Month, let’s remember that we haven’t achieved all that God has planned for us. There is still love to share, encouragement to be given, and the good news of grace to be announced. The fight for justice and equality still rages on, so we must press on! Let’s learn from the past, but not stay there. Keep your eyes focused forward. Let’s possess all that God has prepared us for, it’s our time. We’ve been called to Restore Hope, Empower People, Advance the Kingdom and Leave a Legacy. So let’s walk together children, and don’t you get weary....our vision is forward by faith. Let us continue to pray and seek God’s face, stand on God Word, give with generous and cheerful hearts, and let’s press on to the manifestation of the promise and the prize, all for the Glory of God!
Pressing On in Power,
Agape'
